Charles Field Haviland China
About Charles Field Haviland
In 1842 David Haviland, an American china importer from New York, set up his own porcelain business in Limoges, France, to make fine china for the American market. Haviland china graced the White House under Presidents Lincoln, Grant and Hayes, and its delicate floral patterns were the pride of countless American dining rooms. Members of the Haviland family also ran their own Limoges firms, including Theodore Haviland and Charles Field Haviland.
