About Royal Crown Derby
Fine porcelain has been made in Derby, England, since about 1750. The Derby factory added a crown to its mark in 1775, and in 1890 Queen Victoria appointed it porcelain manufacturer to the Queen and allowed it to use the word Royal. Royal Crown Derby is best known for its rich Imari patterns in deep blue, red and gold, such as Old Imari, and is still made at its Osmaston Road works in Derby, home since 1875.
